Girl Scouts
Our St. Clement Parish has a very active Girl Scout program from the first through eighth grades. All girls from our Parish day school, PSR program, and home schooled are eligible to join our troops. Our Scouts are organized in a troop by school grade, beginning with Brownies in the first through third grades, Juniors in fourth and fifth grades, and Cadets for the sixth and above grades.
Each troop has a monthly meeting and activities, with an overarching theme to build new skills, foster a spirit of volunteerism, live the Catholic values, and of course have fun. Activities and events are planned by each troop individually in order to address the interests of the different age groups. For example, the first grade troop of Brownies typically plans activities to try new things such as arts and crafts, while the second and third grade troops expand their discovery by taking field trips. The fourth and fifth grade troops of Juniors begin their outdoor discovery with camping, cooking and horseback riding; the sixth grade and above troops also camp, participate in fund raisers, and volunteer for an annual Christmas service project.
Our Girl Scouts participate in Catholic Awards:
- Family of God for the second and third grades
- I Live My Faith for the fourth through sixth grades
- Mary, the First Disciple for the seventh and eighth grades
- Footsteps of American Saints open to all grades
- I Pray the Rosary open to all grades
- Pope John Paul II open to all grades
There are annual events open to all troops which include:
- Thanksgiving Day Scout Mass
- Cookie Sales
- “April Showers” – collection of personal items for the less fortunate
- Father/Daughter and Mother/Daughter events
If you are interested in additional information, wish to join Girl Scouts, or volunteer please contact Liz or Tricia.
