Cub Scouts

The Cub Scout program is open to boys from the first through fifth grades culminating in crossing over to Boy Scouts in the month of March during the fifth grade. There is a reason for everything boys do in Cub Scouting. Apart from the fun and excitement, the aim of Cub Scouting is to help boys grow into good citizens who are strong in character and personally fit. Cub Scouting is fun with a purpose.

Tiger Cubs is a first grade offering during which the boy works primarily with his family and engages in a number of “go see ‘um” activities such as visiting a Firehouse, The Butter Fly House, and many other interesting St. Louis attractions.
During the second and third grades, the boy progresses to the Wolf and Bear activity levels meeting once or twice per month in a small group called a den. In the fourth and fifth grades, the boy joins the Webelo 1 and 2 dens. These Cub and Webelo scouts work on a variety of activities and skills.
Monthly Pack meetings for all those in Cub Scouts are held at 7:00pm on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May in the school cafeteria.   Each pack meeting has a specific theme, such as:
·         September:         Back to School and sign-up
·         November:           Food for Scouting
·         January:              Pinewood Derby
·         May:                   Big Event for all the family (nearly 400 attended the May 2011 Big Event)

The Cub Scout program offers over 65 skill achievements including two Catholic awards, Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei. The patron saint of scouting is St. George the Martyr. (See the link on the left section of this page for more information on Cub Scouting and the religious awards.)

During the summer months, our St. Clement Cub Pack 624 participates in the Dad and Lad weekend at S-F Scout Ranch and the Webelos Minicamp at Beaumont Scout Reservation.

St. Clement’s Cub Pack 624 has 60 boys and 10 adult leaders.  If anyone is interested in the program, reach out to Jim Klarsch whose contact information is listed on the right.  Please see the document on the left for a list of those who volunteer their time to make this a very active Cub Pack. Volunteers are encouraged to contact Jim Klarsch.
